Thornleigh Farm with morning mist

Thornleigh Farm Story

Set behind the beautiful palms that line Lagoon Road is historic Thornleigh Farm. Established in 1890 by Philip John English Dignam.  Inherited by Robert Jeremy in 2012, the gardens, house and its many sheds ( because you can never have too many sheds) are slowly being restored.

Focusing on being sustainable, growing naturally and minimal impact to soil cultivation we are continuing on with the orchard that Phil had planted.  To old varieties of Island orange and lemon, pomelo and a unique mandarin we have added limes, lemons, mandarins and Washington navels.

The gardens around the house were Grandma Minnie Dignam's pride and joy.   We are expanding her love of flowers (especially hibiscus) with a rose garden, lavender and tulsi in abundance to encourage bees.

The citrus orchard is supplying us with magnificent crops from which Meredith makes many types of marmalade.  Each year we plant rosella hibiscus to make into the most delicious jam. An old fashioned favourite that tastes like a combination of plum, rhubarb and raspberries.

As the gardens grow, so do we.  Finding ways to capture the scents and tranquility of our special piece of paradise.
